What DO the Artists do during the 8-weeks of their ITE Residency?
Special Screening of ITE Film
September 1st at 7pm
Philadelphia, PA
(August 18, 2006)
The Wood Turning Center is proud to announce a
special presentation of the final-cut of Vincent
Romaniello’s documentary film on the 2006
International Turning Exchange (ITE) Residency. This
candid film presents an
intimate look at the way the artists worked and how
they saw their host city of Philadelphia during
their two month stay. The screening will take place
as a First Friday event at 7PM on September 1st.
Vincent will introduce the film and answer questions
about his work.
The work revealed and discussed in the film is
presented in the annual exhibit, allTURNatives: Form
+ Spirit. The exhibit also reflects the residency
experience including the objects produced before and
during the residency. The ITE exhibition and film
will be on view at the Wood Turning Center through
October 21, 2006.
Photojournalist - Vincent Romaniello
Coming to film making as an abstract painter and
former award winning art director, Vincent brings a
unique perspective to capturing the story of fellow
artists both visually and in his approach to
interviews. “As a digital filmmaker I see my role as
someone dedicated to the art of visual storytelling,
uniting the worlds of the photojournalist, the
videojournalist, and the independent filmmaker.”
Vincent’s ROMANBLOG features his video series,
“Artists Varied Stripes,” shot on the streets of
Philadelphia and in the inner sanctum of the
artists’ studios. He has taped over 20 artists,
artisans, musicians and other artistic people from
his home state of Pennsylvania and beyond. His
documentary shorts have also been broadcast on DUTV,
Drexel University’s cable channel as well as New
Century TV on the web.
